Walt Disney World Weather Report for the May 18th Weekend from @WDW_Weather

Hey guys again - I apologize for the lateness of this update but - this sinkhole is really keeping a brother down and I still do not have power so it has been an interesting week to say the least.

The widespread showers and thunderstorms we've been seeing the last couple of days should die down a BIT today - but there is enough moisture about to once again fire up scattered storms this afternoon.  That said, there is enough DRY air to inhibit much of the activity until you get considerably further south.

Expect highs to be in the upper 80s all weekend long.  Chance for afternoon thunderstorms increases just a bit as we get into Saturday and Sunday.

Not too exciting but hey at least I'm not talking about a potential tropical system this weekend like I thought I might have been earlier in the week :-)!  See - the glass is half full!

Once the marine layer gets up out of here expect a high temperature of about 72 today.

Once again I do not have too much excitement to share, as the weekend looks very much the way the week ended.  Expect highs fluctuating in and around the mid 70s by the time we get to tomorrow with morning clouds and afternoon sunshine.

New Topic: The Germany Pavilion Attraction ???? [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: Donny
The original design of the pavilion called for a boat ride along the Rhine river. It was to have focused on German folklore, in a similar manner to the Mexico and Norway rides. According to the Walt Disney Company's 1976 annual report the ride was to be ' ... a cruise down Germany's most famous rivers -- the Rhine, the Tauber, the Ruhr and the Isar. Detailed miniatures of famous landmarks will also be seen, including one of the Cologne Cathedral.'[1]

Though the building was built, Disney did not complete the ride construction by opening day. It was announced to be part of 'phase two' of expansion. To avoid costs, Disney dropped all phase two attractions and decided that any expansion projects would only be allowed if a host country funded for it. Because of lack of funding, the ride building is now used as storage space. You can see the main entrance hall, as it's now the dining area for the Biergarten. The ride building is used for storage for floats, a workshop and cast member rehearsal space.

New Topic: Expedition Everest: How bad IS it? [Walt Disney World Trip Planning]
Posted by: faunafairy
Greetings everyone!

My name is Ashley and I'm getting ready to head to the Disney Parks for the sixth time next week. I was last at WDW in 2006 when Expedition Everest had just been built and did not go on it at the time due to super long wait times. I'm kind of a coaster chicken, so I'm wondering just how bad EE is. To give you a frame of reference - I can Big Thunder and Space Mountain without a problem (LOVE SM). I hate hate HATE the negative G-force at the beginning of Rock 'n Roller Coaster, but the last time I was there I rode it four times. I've never been on Splash Mountain, however, because the drop at the end terrifies me. I hate the feeling of drops and have clearly never been on anything as extreme as Tower of Terror. How do you compare EE with other Disney thrill rides? Is it something I'd be okay on, or should I skip it due to my hatred of drops?

Thanks in advance!

Ashley
