Mary Poppins Australia Opens to Critical Acclaim!

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s eagerly anticipated Australian production of MARY POPPINSpremiered Thursday evening, July 29 at Her Majesty’s Theatre. The Melbourne engagement is a homecoming for the beloved character. MARY POPPINS was born in the pen of author P.L. New Topic: Animal Kingdom expansion/AdvClub [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: SeventyOne
'King Bob's' Save PI blog posted a huge rumor last night--new AK land with a relocated Adventurers Club. Anyone heard any other details on this?

Seems an odd fit to me. AK prides itself on realism, and the Club is more Jungle Cruise than Hamarabe. In addition, AK is pretty 'tree huggy'--don't see a club of big game hunters and fishermen fitting that theme. But curious what the plan is, even if it's only blue sky.
New Topic: Tangled to replace Storytime with Belle [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: dshyates
From the Disney Parks Blog:

'Before we dive into the weekend, there are a few quick updates to share out of Magic Kingdom Park to end the week. First is a new character experience — a “play and greet” with characters Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder at the park’s Fairytale Garden. Beginning Friday, October 15, you’ll be able to interact with both of the stars from the upcoming Disney film “Tangled.”
The Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder experience will replace the current show, “Storytime with Belle” at Fairytale Garden. The final “Storytime with Belle” show will be September 12.'

New Topic: We Want a Snuggly Duckling! [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: Witches of Morva
ORDDU: With all the new information coming forth all over the place about Disney's next animated film--Tangled a.k.a. Rapunzel--there are mixed reactions about various aspects of the film. But one item that this coven of witches finds most intriguging in a certain little pub that is featured in the motion picture.

ORWEN: She's talking about a quaint little place built into the side of a large tree that they call the Snuggly Duckling. Just one look at the place makes you want to hang out there for a nice drink while smoozing with your best friends.

ORDDU: So, we'd like to propose the idea--right here and now--that Disney management forget about Pixie Hollow and build a Snuggly Duckling pub in the midst of the Magic Kingdom's newly expanded Fantasyland. We believe it would be much more inviting and appealing.

ORWEN: It wouldn't have to be a full fledged restaurant like the one they're planning for Beauty & the Beast. It could just be a place to serve non-alcoholic drinks and chips!

ORGOCH: Well, now ya just lost me! I was all ready ta give ya my vote 'til ya went 'n said 'non-alcoholic'!! Could a been the first place at the Tragic Kingdom where a cauldron carryin' witch might FIN'LY be able ta whet her thirst with a decent drink, fer a change!

ORWEN: Like as if you didn't already know they don't allow hard liquor--or witches brew--inside he Magic Kingdom, you tiresome old biddy!

ORGOCH: Yeah, well they's under new managment now, ain't they? If a couple a loony birds can take the Tiki Room hostage, why cain't Rapurplepunzel take over the kind a drinks we gits at the Kingdom? (I'll just bet ol' Skin Flint Ryder would support me on this!!!)
New Topic: Surprise!!! MSEP extended. [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: EPCOT Explorer
Yeah...Not really surprised, are you?

From the Blog:

'Just as scores of you had hoped – we’re leaving the lights on and extending Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” at Walt Disney World. By popular demand, the parade at Magic Kingdom Park will continue an open-ended run when “Summer Nightastic!” ends on August 14.
It’s probably no surprise to hear that the parade has been one of our highest rated entertainment experiences at Magic Kingdom Park since returning in early June. It’s been an “overwhelming success,” according to Park Vice President Phil Holmes. And now, you’ll be able to continue cheering and humming “Baroque Hoedown.”
Of course, new elements of Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” will continue during the encore phase of the run. Those include:
Tinker Bell leads the eye-filling procession, waving from the basket of a balloon floating gracefully above a magical garden shimmering in fairy light.
Pinocchio and the boys from the classic film’s Pleasure Island sequence join the parade, and Snow White joins the Seven Dwarfs on a diamond mine float.
There are new lighting effects, and the parade’s highly recognizable musical theme is brightened by new technology.
Will you take advantage of the extended run? Let us know in the comments.'

I guess I'm happy about this, I really prefer it over Spectro, but it kind of takes away from the allure that Nightastic had. I wonder if we will have one next year....?

New Topic: Snow White's future? [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: ttalovebug
So the Princess m&g's will be homeless for a while once their tent is torn down. People on various sites have been trying to guess where they will be placed, thanks to a poster and his misunderstood 'candy store' analogies. He said it would be repurposed once princess-free, and that it might be controversial. Snow White's Scary Adventures has become a popular theory. Thoughts? Salt?

by the way, I'm new, so hi!

New Topic: Question about fireworks & Pirates & Pals boat rid [Walt Disney World General]
Posted by: deephil
Can anyone tell me where I can find out the firework schedule I have looked but cannot find they have changed the site from what I was used to, I can find park hours but not entertainment schedule. Also can anyone tell me the price of Pirates & pals adventure, it sounds brilliant but it depends on the firework schedule obviously, would love to take some first timers on it but we only have a 2 night slot available where our holidays overlap. I don't want to get their hopes up if the fireworks don't go on those nights.

Many thanks for your help guys and gals :-)
New Topic: 1st Time To WDW...help! [Walt Disney World Trip Planning]
Posted by: gidget_girl_rose
Hi, I am going to WDW the first week of December and I have some questions!

Has anyone used mousesavers.com? Is it a reliable site? Is the ticket broker Undercover Tourist, that mousesaver.com promotes, the real deal?

We are staying at one of the All-star resorts. How are the buses from there? How long should I allow for travel to the parks?

How busy are the parks that week? Are the lines short?

Finally, are there any restaurants comparable to the Blue Bayou?

Thanks so much!

Oh, P.S. We have relatives in Florida who want to buy us tickets, but I have been reading that Disney really checks to make sure everyone who have a Florida resident ticket is actually a Florida resident. Is that correct?
New Topic: Reserved Seating [Walt Disney World Trip Planning]
Posted by: gidget_girl_rose
Sorry if this is posted elsewhere! I am planning a trip to WDW for the 1st time and I am curious if any of the parades/shows/fireworks have any reserved/preferred seating like Fantasmic does at DL.
Thanks!
